"Connection" 2014
Inspired by love songs and the emotions they evoke, I find inspiration in familial love, friendship, and love towards strangers. These vital connections between people act like a rainbow, brightening and surprising everyone's life. Love, in its various forms, is seamless.
I brought these ups and downs of my emotions into being by drawing lines, and these lines slowly created shapes and then images on paper. I isolated the shapes and images that I felt best represented my emotions, and these became the silhouettes of this collection. For the material of my collection, since I focus on the connection between people, I explore and research leather braiding and chain mail. To represent this "connection" for my collection, I think of different ways to combine different parts of the clothes. Leather and silk represent the hard and soft feelings we experience when we connect with others.
